Letter from the Chairman of the Board

Dear Supporters of Annam Project,

The Vietnamese American community has grown considerably in many aspects in the last twenty five years. One can note the large commercial and religious establishments that sprung up all around us.

Annam Community Development Corporation (CDC) would like to contribute to this development with a social and educational project, called «Annam Project». Details of this project, as well as information about Annam CDC, are shown in this booklet.

This project is widely and strongly supported by several religious leaders, elected officials, financial institutions and public agencies. We would like to express our special gratitude to Father Anthony Dao Quang Chinh, Vicar of the Vietnamese Catholics of the Houston-Galveston Diocese; Adorable Thich Tri Hue, President of Linh Son Buddhist Association of Texas; Reverend Di Dinh Nguyen, Pastor of First Alliance Vietnamese Church; Mr. Bruce Austin, Former Director of Harris Community Development Center; Honorable Jerry Eversole, Precinct Four Commissioner; Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison; and His Excellency Reverend Joseph Fiorenza, Bishop of the Diocese of Houston-Galveston. We would like also to thank all associations, committees, the Vietnamese community, and members of the Advisory Board for their involvement and commitment to this project.

We continue to welcome and appreciate your advice, guidance, and comments on our effort to serve the Vietnamese American community.

Sincerely,

Chinh T. Nguyen, CPA
Chairman

LOGO

The logo of Annam CDC reflects the Vietnamese culture, tradition, and concept of an harmonious on living.

The circle symbolizes the heaven, the square the earth and also the human people. Prosperity can only be achieved when these three agents, Heaven-Earth-Mankind, are in harmony with each other. This concept of trio-power (God-Earth-Mankind) was the foundation of the Vietnamese life in monarchic times, established an orderly society, and a philosophy of life through centuries which still exists today . The triangle symbolized the letter A, as in Annam, always pointing and aiming higher for the goodness, heaven (God).

Two traditional cakes, banh day and banh chung, whose shapes are the circle and the square, respectively, are icons of the Vietnamese culture, and often mentioned in the history of Vietnam.

The square (vuong) and the circle (tron) also represent fullness, in the Vietnamese tradition for thousand of years. Even today, Vietnamese people wish a mother and her newly born child perpect health with this expression: "Me (Mother) tron (circle) con (child) vuong (square)".

Annam CDC would like to fulfill these ideals, as reflected in our logo, through our services to the community.

IRS STATUS

Annam Community Development Corporation is exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3).
